Boudoir Business Tips: The Importance of Branding

Boudoir Business, For Photographers

Boudoir photographers have their own special niche in the photography market, so much so that boudoir photography has effectively become a class of its own.  This is because although there is a certain level of trust that is necessary for most types of photography, other genres are fairly straightforward. However, subjects of boudoir photography are bearing their most intimate qualities for the camera, which means that for a boudoir photographer to make it in the business, there must be a high level of confidence between the photographer and the client. Developing this trust early on is absolutely essential. Simply put, you need to be friendly, welcoming, professional, and trustworthy from the very first glance.

Crafting a brand for your boudoir photography business is absolutely crucial. Clients want to feel comfortable with whomever they choose, which means that a shoddily created marketing effort just isn’t going to cut it.  You don’t want to seem like an anonymous anybody, you have to look established, well-known, and professional. While this task seems like a gargantuan undertaking, it’s actually simpler than you might have considered.

Your Website Is Half the Battle

If your website looks like it was started on Friday and finished on Sunday, then prospective clients are probably not going to feel confident about your services.  Remember, they are about to show you a side of themselves that they probably don’t show very often, and often times, people can be rather self-conscious about their bodies.  They are counting on you to make them look beautiful and sexy.

This is why your website not only needs to appear professional, but your color schemes, fonts, styles, and even logo need to be consistent.  Consistency gives the appearance of the establishment, and establishment means that many have already trusted you.

To accomplish this, you can either hire a web designer to get you off the ground, or you can even go to companies that have pre-fabricated website templates,

Remember: Consistency is key to your branding.

Get Known.  Get Out There.

Often times, what will push a prospective client in one direction or another is how far and wide the photographer is already known.  Again, if others have already trusted you, then you will appear trustworthy. A fairly active marketing scheme will help you pop up in all kinds of places, and make your business appear more established.  When people see your brand, your logo, or your style, they will instantly associate you with a trustworthy boudoir photographer.

To do this, you will want to focus on search engine optimization (SEO) for your website, so that you can hit the first page of the search engines.  Also, don’t forget to harness the power of social media. Be sure to create at least 5 social media pages. An easy, massive timesaver for running social media pages is to use services like Hootsuite.com, which will allow you to blast updates simultaneously from the dashboard, even allowing you to schedule posts and get seen.

Craft Your Style

You can always tell a Volvo without seeing ‘Volvo’ anywhere on the vehicle, and you can be fairly certain that it’s a safe car.  You can instantly pick out a Louis Vuitton handbag from across the street The Nike ‘swoosh’ is unforgettable – and synonymous with athletic wear.  People go to these products and businesses, often because they know exactly what they’re going to get every time. They want something dependable, and they want something unique.

Your style is your own, and it is important to keep it consistent, this way, your clients will have a general idea of what they are going to get before you deliver.  As always: consistency appears established, and establishment builds trust. All that’s left is to do what you do best.
