Normally I post Tuesdays about Boudoir photography tips for photographers, but today I’m going to do something a bit different. I’m going to focus on you, the person in front of the camera!
Many people who book a boudoir session have never done it before. Perhaps they are planning a sweet surprise for their honey on their wedding night, or looking to create a timeless record of how awesome they look at this time in their lives. These people aren’t professional models, they probably don’t spend a lot of time in front of the camera, and so chances are, they are a bit nervous. But they don’t need to be!
If you feel nervous about your upcoming boudoir session, just rest your mind at ease. Not only will it be an incredibly empowering experience, and you’ll leave feeling like a million bucks, but you’ll have some fancy photos of yourself that you can cherish for the rest of your life.
But although the photographer and his or her beauty design team will conspire to showcase you at your most fabulous sexy best, there are a few things you can do to help the process, and to begin to feel more confident even before the day of the shoot.
Tips for a Great Boudoir Session
1. Focus on the Details
You’re investing time and money into this photo shoot, you want it to be the best it can possibly be. The best way to do that is not to skimp out on the details. For starters, don’t forget typical grooming habits like shaving. Also, spending a few extra bucks on a mani-pedi will add lovely touch. Having chipped or unkempt nails can really take a way from the overall look.
You’re the star of the day, show yourself how worth it you are.
2. Nice Lingerie/Negligé/Clothes
You know you don’tneed an excuse to buy lingerie, but if you did, this would absolutely be one. Whether you prefer simple elegance, lace, or an off-the shoulder sweater, use this opportunity to splurge on something pretty, it’ll make the photos that much better.
3. Just Relax
Believe it or not, it won’t be as hard as you think. You don’t have to know how to pose, do your own hair makeup, or know which angle you look best at. That’s all taken care of for you. All you have to do is show up and be you.
So when the time comes for your boudoir session, leave your worries at the door, and expect to have an incredible time. Which you will.
